Import Your Resume and Edit It Online

Upload your existing resume in PDF, DOCX, or DOC format. CVlume turns the content into editable resume sections so you can update, reorganize, and export it without starting over.

One file at a time, up to 10 MB. The original file stays exactly as it is — we only read a copy of the text.

Why import an existing resume?

Your history is already written. Importing moves it into a place where updating it takes minutes instead of an evening.

Avoid rebuilding your work history

Roles, dates and bullet points come across as they are written, so nothing has to be retyped.

Keep your existing content

Import preserves your content. Nothing is rewritten, shortened or generated unless you ask for it.

Move everything into structured sections

Experience, Education and Skills become real fields instead of loose paragraphs in a document.

Change templates without rewriting

Once the content is structured, a different layout is one click — the text stays where it belongs.

Export a fresh PDF

Download a clean, selectable-text PDF whenever you need one, and keep the editable version for next time.

What can be imported?

PDF

PDF

The most common resume format. Text-based files import directly. Scanned or image-only PDFs cannot be read — the file needs selectable text.

DOCX

DOCX

Word files from Microsoft 365, Google Docs exports, Pages exports and most other editors.

DOC

DOC

The older Word format, including files saved years ago on a machine you no longer use.

What happens after import?

1 · Upload

Pick the file from your computer or drag it onto the page.

2 · Text extracted

Every line of readable text is pulled out of the document.

3 · Sections structured

Experience, Education and Skills are separated and labelled.

4 · Review the draft

See what was recognised and reassign anything placed wrongly.

5 · Edit and export

Adjust the text, choose a template and download the CV.

Questions about importing

Yes. Age does not matter as long as the file opens. Files saved a decade ago in .doc import the same way as a document you exported this morning.

No. Import copies your sentences across unchanged. Any rewriting or shortening is a separate action you start yourself in the editor.

Yes. Every section, entry and bullet point is editable, and you can add, delete or reorder them like any CV built in CVlume from scratch.

PDF, DOCX and DOC. If you have something else — Pages, ODT, a Google Doc — export it to PDF or DOCX first and import that file. Scanned image-only PDFs are not supported.

Bring the resume you already have.

Upload it once and keep it editable — new roles, new templates, new exports, same content.
